Happy Labor Day weekend!  It’s felt like fall the last few weeks in Chicago especially in the morning, which is sometimes bittersweet as we say good-bye to summer fun.  This weekend will mean relaxation and good times with our family in Wisconsin. We hope to also enjoy corn on the cob with ice cream, which are our family favorites.  This time of year also means football season, fall flowers, such as mums, and cider.  Enjoy this weekend however you choose! Family travel tips

Wishing everyone safe travels, who will be away, this weekend or fun at home if you are local!  If you are away or local, treat yourself and try to laugh off whatever it is and try not to worry too much about “everyone else” (easier said than done)…  If you are travelling with little ones (this is usually a nightmare for the best of us), you may find the tips below helpful.  Please share your own, too!

Father’s Age Linked to Autism and Schizophre​nia – SCAM

Last week I received two NYT headline alerts: Father’s Age Is Linked to Risk of Autism and Schizophre​nia. The world-class newspaper obviously spun the research to appeal to fear among its readers. The original findings are in the journal Nature. The journal shared the same marketing strategy – prey on fear of its readers. The article elaborates that a genetic “mutation” is sometimes found in men over 40 in at most 2% detectable cases, which hardly seems headline worthy. Everyone hopes and prays for healthy children, but there is a lot beyond parents control…

I hope you had an awesome weekend! We savored our last few days in Cape Cod, which meant everything from rip tide waves to the best corn on the cob and ice cream. Our son sang with the sea gulls and howled with the waves.
